Have you ever thought how you can remain involved in the sport we all love when something prevents us from pulling on the jersey in a playing capacity?
One of the ways you can do that is by taking up the challenge of becoming a referee and joining the many others who have done so. Anyone can set out on the path to becoming a referee as long as they are at least 14 years old and willing to put in a bit of time learning the laws as an official, developing the required skills and taking on refereeing appointments.
The RFU is supporting this through the 'Keep Your Boots On!' campaign and you can find out more about the initiative here
Here at Kidderminster Carolians we are beginning to understand exactly how many qualified referees we have and establish a pathway for people to move into refereeing if they want to give it a go. If you are a qualified referee and haven't spoken to me yet in person or by email, please drop me a line at daitheref@yahoo.co.uk. Another thing we wish to do is make sure our Club is as informed as it can be as regards law changes and clarifications, RFU Regulation changes and training and development opportunities provided by both the RFU and the North Midlands Society of Rugby Football Referees (or NMSRFR if you prefer).
If you want to know more please contact me as above, or follow the below links to the main RFU referees page and the NMSRFR:
