Neil Pearson (30/05/72 – 03/12/21)

It is with a deep sadness that I announce the death of Neil Pearson.

Some of you may have played with Neil in the 80’s in the Colts at KCRFC where he played number 9 until he suffered a knee injury playing football. Many of you would have known him as Head Coach of the Under 15’s.

Neil started coaching in 2013 and built up the now U15 team with me. He took his coaching role very seriously and had genuine passion for the development of his players and the success of the team as sportsmen and as individuals and I know he was extremely proud of them all.

He also did a lot of work for the team behind the scenes – supporting the players and their families - and then during lockdown he kept the team engaged, involved and motivated with training plans as well as running a weekly quiz for the families – and all this despite being very poorly and receiving treatment.

Neil was well respected and much loved by the players, coaches and families and our thoughts are with his wife Lindsay and his children Dylan and Harriet as they come to terms with their loss.

Neil passed away on 3rd December following a 3 year battle with prostate cancer. I know he would urge you all to get checked regularly.

Matt Greene, Chair KCRFC Mini and Juniors.
