- best performance of the season

Leamington 22 KC 44
KC with their best performance of the season away at Leamington were able to chalk up their fourth consecutive win and maintain their third position in the league.
Pressure from KC opened their scoring with a penalty kicked by Tom Dalton, Leamington replied with a converted try to take the lead. The next KC try came following an initial burst by number 8 Ryan Wainwright off the back of a set scrum, when Ryan was stopped the ball was fed down the line for Ryan Tiene to score on the right wing, Dalton converting.
Ryan Tiene made the next try with a trade-mark run from the KC 22, he was stopped just short of the line, Tom Dalton was in close support and able to score, he then added the conversion.
Tiene was again involved in the next KC try, his initial break being supported by the forwards and then taken on by Will Fallows for him to score, Dalton converting. KC forwards were then pressurising Leamington just outside their 22 and Will Fallows again showed his pace off the mark to score his second try of the game wide out.
Leamington had their turn to add pressure in the KC 22 and scored an unconverted try through their forwards. KC came back when Ted Morgan showed his pace from the Leamington 22 to score an unconverted try.
KC forwards were working well and competing in the set scrums, it was good to see Simon Clarke coming on as replacement after his long time on the side-lines through injury. At half time KC looked comfortable with a 15-34 lead
Leamington came out in the second half and immediately got territorial advantage in the KC 22 and their pressure was such that they were awarded a penalty try, getting 7 points and KC going a man down.
Pressure for KC near the Leamington 22 yielded a penalty kicked by Chris Pinner. KC defence was much improved in this game, great tackles being put in by Chris Pinner Nathan Ward and Jesse Burgess amongst others. Whilst KC were playing well in the second half the Leamington defence were able to limit them to one try only in this period.
In the last quarter KC were able to make the game safe with a great try. George Tildesley bursting through from the KC 22 and drawing the last defender gave a well-judged pass to the supporting Ryan Tiene for him to make easy 30 metre run to score for his second try of the game; Pinner adding the conversion.
This was a great team performance and is typical of the way this young group are maturing into a competitive unit which looks good for the rest of the season.
