KC were determined to put the disappointment of last week aside and from the kick off were able to put pressure on the opposition with a great team performance.
Following good work by the forwards a move involving several of the backs released Chris May-Miller to score the first try in the corner after 5 minutes. Soon after, more good work by the forwards provided a platform for Chris Pinner to score. From a rolling maul several long passes allowed Arthur Morgan to score in the corner. Soon after this KC turned over an attack on their 22, Rhys Pritchard made a break, belied his age sprinting 75 metres to score.
The next 10 minutes was played in each half, good KC pressure hindered when four penalty infringements handed possession to the opposition. Then, from a penalty awarded to Kidderminster, a good move close to the line culminated in a Jess Smith try in the corner taking KC to 25 – 0 at half time.
Chris May Miller showed his flair and pace in scoring the next two tries from wide out to complete his deserved hat-trick. KC forwards wheeled an opposition scrum and Chris Pinner feeding Arthur Morgan who, with a 40 metre mazy run, ghosted through to score under the posts leaving the opposition baffled. Pinner converted. Next try was scored by Rich Sollom following a Tom Mayer break, Tom was prominent in both defence and attack from the moment he came on as a replacement. Pinner again adding the extras.
Pressure from KC was telling as Arthur Morgan and Chris Pinner combined for Dave Kane to make a powerful run to score. Another strong run from the halfway line by Arthur Morgan completed his hat-trick, Pinner again converting to take the final score to 61 – 0. This was a well refereed game with Rugby St Andrew keeping the pressure on despite Kidderminster’s increasing try count; the resolute KC defence preventing them getting on the score sheet.
Another excellent display by the whole squad which now sets them up for a mouth watering cup clash with Old Laurentians next Saturday. The team really appreciate the support both home and away and hope to see a bumper crowd next week at Marlpool Lane.
