Another fine display of open attacking rugby gives KC's their 14th bonus point win and brings them level on points with 2nd placed Old Laurentians....

Match report courtesy of Bob Davies...

KC completed the double over a Southam side who stuck to their task even when KC had made the game safe. It was a good game to watch with good contributions from both forwards and backs. KC started this match in lively fashion although loss of concentration meant that several of their promising moves did not make the required ground. The forwards worked well in loose play and set scrums where they took several balls against the head; unfortunately line-outs let them down.

After 15 minutes a move in the backs started with a break by Chris May-Miller, off-loaded to Ryan Tiene who in turn fed Rhys Pritchard to score.
Next score came from a scrum close in from which Chris Pinner made a half break and Jess Smith went through a gap from 8 metres to score by the posts. Freddie Morgan made the conversion. KC forwards won the ball on the Southam 22 and a quick pass to Rhys Pritchard who with a deft feint scored his second try of the afternoon. The bonus points came after a great catch from Chis May Miller near the half way line and a pass to Ryan Tiene who made a 50 metre swerving run to score near the posts. Freddie Morgan made the conversion.

The half finished at 26-0 with great defence by KC resisting Southam pressure. Jess Smith was involved in the next two tries, the first from a Morgan chip through and the second he passed for Scott Lovell to go over. Freddie Morgan converted the first of these. Southam kept the pressure up and eventually scored wide out through a rare chink in the KC defence, they failed with the conversion. Next try was good rugby in a move initiated by man of the match Chris Pinner, taken on by Arthur Morgan who passed to his brother Freddie Morgan to score the try and make the conversion.

Final score came from broken play when Arthur Morgan gathered a loose ball and fed Andy McLellan who, with real pace, scored wide out taking the score to finish at 50-5.

This was an excellent response from the players after two very tough games against Kenilworth. After the game there was an added bonus as news filtered through on OL's surprise loss at home to set up a grandstand finish to the season for both clubs in their race to clinch the playoff place.
